Sir Geoffrey met with the Bishop of Exeter and local parishioners to discuss the future of Petrockstowe Church. Sir Geoffrey was pleased to meet with the Right Reverend Dr Michael Harrison, on behalf of the community to seek his and the diocesan team's help in finding a dignified use for the ancient church, sadly now closing for worship.
Sir Geoffrey is very concerned about the future of rural parish churches, in which so many of the lives and histories of local people are interwoven.
He was glad that the Bishop listened with understanding, and pledged to work with the village, parish and Sir Geoffrey in a bid to find a solution.
"I am grateful to him, and to those who came with me from Petrockstowe, including Parish Council Chairman, Malcolm Busby, Councillor Cheryl Cottle-Hunkin and Amanda Bright for attending and making it an encouraging step in the journey." Sir Geoffrey remarked.
